Full article: Brain-damaged woman at center of Wal-Mart suit - CNN.com

This Wal-Mart employee was hit by a trucker and suffered major medical complications. She re-couped over $1 million in damages, actually got to keep about $400k after attorney fees, but now has to pay back her employer almost $500k because of the fine print in her company-issued medical insurance. That’s right, Wal-mart has a stipulation in their medical insurance policy that allows them to recoup ANY medical fees they pay if you win a settlement…Legal? Perhaps…Ethical? You gotta be kidding me…
Oh, did i mention her son was killed in Iraq the week after she lost her appeal? Some people have terrible luck…

I’ve been reading about this… it is so messed up… Maybe if they weren’t trying to take back everything she had left it wouldn’t be so sick, but some on!!!
BTW… I thought I saw last night on CNN that Walmart had a change of heart and decided to let them keep the money. Is that right?
